Introduction to Angel Investing

February 28, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am

The first of a series of workshops designed to help individuals become successful Angel Investors

Angel investing is hard work and requires knowledge, experience, and a lot of patience.   Active angel investors spend years and tens of thousands of dollars building their portfolio.  Research into angel investing indicates that a small percentage (20-40%) of an investor’s holdings will return a 2.5x ROI if they are diligent in building their portfolio.  Research has also shown that angels working together outperform individual angels significantly.  Angel groups like Keiretsu Forum bring a rigorous process to the angel investing arena along with a swarm mentality that mitigates the risk of some angel investing opportunities.

Introduction to Angel Investing is the first of a series of workshops designed to open the world of angel investing to individuals looking to understand the space and the requirements to become a successful angel investor.  The series will be led by Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic, the East Coast division of the world’s largest and most active angel investment network.  Workshop attendees at any stage of investment will learn how to think and respond to make good or better investments.

The workshops were developed by Keiretsu Mid-Atlantic (K4-MA) in collaboration with The Dr. Edwin Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center at West Chester University (WCU) and Ideas x Innovation Network (i2n), an initiative of the Chester County Economic Development Council.  This educational series of workshops was designed to reinforce the opening of a new K4-MA satellite chapter at the Cottrell Center and future programs will take a deeper dive into focused sessions for investors and/or entrepreneurs.    The opening workshop will include an actual funding presentation from a K4-MA portfolio company.

The workshops will be facilitated by Howard Lubert, Co-Founder & Area President of the Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic & South-East Regions.  Howard brings 30+ years of private equity and angel investing to the program and he believes that education is fundamental to securing successful early-stage investments.  Understanding the fundamentals of how to execute early-stage investment deals including due diligence is the key to increasing investment returns and growing successful companies.
