Fostering stability and sustainability in the new energy economy
As the region moves toward a more sustainable lifestyle, the market for clean energy grows more competitive. Chester County and the Southeast region play an important role in the midstream energy generation and delivery markets, exemplified by the headquarters of PJM in Valley Forge, a electricity delivery grid with operations in 13 states.
CCEDC provides programs, workshops, and consulting services to help companies of all sizes develop an energy plan for competing in this growing sector. Pennsylvania has mandated a statewide Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard to ensure that 18% percent of our energy comes from alternative sources by 2021, including 8% from traditional renewables such as wind and solar. The CCEDC can assist companies in benefiting from these and similar policies.
Energy service providers also can benefit from access to information, training, grants, and other resources in areas such as efficiency, biofuels, solar, wind and the smart grid technology. The CCEDC supports these industries through the efforts of its Southeastern Pennsylvania Smart Energy Initiative.
