About Claudia Hellebush
After serving as the United Way of Chester County’s Vice President of Operations for 8 years, she became the organization’s President & CEO in 2003. She is responsible for the overall direction and execution of work for all phases of United Way business including fund development, fund distribution, community engagement and public policy within public, private and voluntary sectors. During her time as CEO, the organization has raised over $75 million for the community.
Under Claudia’s leadership, the United Way of Chester County transitioned from its traditional role as a fundraising operation to a full service, community development organization with a network of services and initiatives addressing the areas of education, financial independence and health. She was instrumental in the creation of the United Way Volunteer Center, Leadership Chester County Board Training Program, Early Education Initiatives and the United Way Financial Stability Center. Claudia served for 3 years as the Chair of the United Ways of the Delaware Valley, a consortium of 13 United Ways with combined fundraising of $110 million dollars. In 2016 United Way of Chester County was named Non-Profit of the Year by the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.
Claudia began her career at Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Chester County, a youth serving organization known for its positive outcomes for children and their families. She served as the Executive Director for 15 years and was the Vice President of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters State Association during her tenure.
In 2009 Claudia received the March of Dimes’ Woman of Achievement Award for Public Service. She serves on numerous community Boards and she is a member of the Board of Directors of Citadel Federal Credit Union.
Claudia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in Administration both from West Chester University.
