Oscar Lasko Honored at Business Achievement Awards Dinner

The Chester County Economic Development Council’s Hall of Fame award was given to Oscar Lasko, Chairman of Lasko Products, Inc.The presentation was held during the CCEDC’s 2014 Business Achievement Awards Dinner on April 3 at the Phoenixville Foundry. Friends, family, business associates and local nonprofits gathered to celebrate Lasko and the impact he has had on Chester County. Those remarking on Lasko’s business success, philanthropic efforts and connection to the community included: Gary W. Smith, President and CEO of the Chester County Economic Development Council; Edward V. McAssey, III, Chief Operating Officer for Lasko Products, Inc.; and Roger N. Huggins, Partner at Gawthrop Greenwood, PC and Chairman of the CCEDC Board of Directors.
A video tribute featured representatives from several organizations upon which Lasko has had an impact including: Denise Day, President/CEO of the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley, Michael Duncan, President and CEO of The Chester County Hospital, Robert McNeil, Chairman of the Chester County Food Bank, and Leo Parsons, President and COO of CTDI.
In 1906 Lasko’s father Henry started the company in Philadelphia. The success and growth had the company moving twice before the operations settled in West Chester, its current home.
The youngest of three sons, Oscar joined the company in 1945, just as the company began producing small appliances like hot plates and household heaters. His priority was to ensure every product sold was top quality since the product bore his name. Over the years, the product line was adapted to capture changing consumer needs.
Lasko has been engineering and building great-looking, high performance home comfort products in the United States and around the world for more than 100 years. The company has grown to an international organization and market leader in portable fans and ceramic heaters including room fans, high velocity fans, ceramic, low-profile heaters and many more.
