Our Commitment to Diversity, Equality & Inclusion
June 4, 2020
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
When we see the news of the day, the pain, sadness, and anger that is so clear in the voices and scenes across the country, it causes us at CCEDC to reflect on our work, our values, and our core principles as an organization.
At the Chester County Economic Development Council, our work is about empowering others. We strive to help businesses grow, to help individuals learn the skills they need to advance their careers, and to help entrepreneurs launch companies and pursue their dreams. We do this so that smart economic growth can help all people live fulfilling lives here in Chester County and the surrounding region.
None of that is possible or even meaningful if we cannot first secure and preserve the bedrock American principles of equality and justice for all people. We are deeply saddened by the tragic killing of George Floyd, and we join the communities and people around the world crying for justice.
We also stand with the millions of people, including those here in Chester County, who have ever been victims of racial prejudice and discrimination. Now is the time, as much as ever, to voice our opposition to violence, racism, and the stark inequities that persist in our society.
We have always believed our greatest strength at CCEDC lies in our ability to collaborate, to listen, and to work together to solve the problems of the day. We would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to cooperation, inclusion, and constructive, peaceful dialogue. We also recognize that we must hold ourselves accountable and will continue to review our own operations and strategies through the lens of equality and diversity.
We hope you will join us in our efforts to always live up to our values as individuals, as an organization, and as a society. We are grateful for your partnership and support.
