The municipality about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Philadelphia is seeing the biggest percentage jump in wages among the largest U.S. counties, according to federal data released Sept. 18. Its localities collect income taxes from industries ranging from health care to finance, said Dan Seymour, a Moody’s Investors Service analyst. The county also ranks first in the state for the market value of its crops, U.S. figures show.

Chester County, with about 509,000 residents and top bond ratings, plans to sell general obligations next month, said Mark Rupsis, its chief operating officer. The breadth of its economic base is a draw — while its eastern part hosts companies, the western side is agricultural, Rupsis said.”
